The DSBN supports the exploration of facility‑sharing partnership opportunities related to long‑term space planning, where such arrangements support effective use of Board facilities.
Partnership opportunities may involve:
- sharing underutilized, distinct space identified through the DSBN’s planning process, or
- co-building facilities as part of new construction or major renovations.
Partnership criteria
Partnerships must:
- Protect student safety
- Be separate and distinct from school operations
- Align with DSBN planning and operational requirements
- Be mutually beneficial and sustainable
Types of partnerships
- Co-building agreements
- Lease or licence of underutilized space
- Joint-use agreements specific to facility use
Costs
All facility-sharing partnerships operate through formal agreements. Community partners are responsible for all applicable capital, operating, maintenance, and administrative costs.
Expressing interest
Eligible organizations may submit a Facility-Sharing Community Partnership form any time.
Short term / after-hours rentals
After-hours or short-term rentals are handled separately through the Permit and Rental Services department. For more information about renting school space for use outside of school hours:
